ISLAMIC DIGITAL CERTIFICATION COUNCIL

Monetary standards for the Muslim world

Zakāt nisāb, mahr weights, the IDCC gold and silver rate, and blockchain-backed certification of physical bullion. Published for use in binding decisions, not for browsing. Previously known as the Islamic Monetary Council (IMC).

Millions of coins struck, and almost none a buyer could check

Roughly one in every four people alive today is Muslim, and zakāt, mahr and inheritance are all settled by weight of gold and silver rather than by currency. It is high time the Muslim world took the preservation of that wealth seriously, and that starts with a weight anyone can verify.

Since the revival of the dīnār and the dirham in the 1990s, an estimated two million silver dirhams and some two hundred thousand gold dīnārs have been struck worldwide. The documented figures alone are substantial: in South-East Asia, over a two-year period, the World Islamic Mint recorded more than 50,000 gold dīnārs and close to 500,000 silver dirhams sold, and a single buyer placed one order for 100,000 coins.

Almost none of them left a mint with certification a buyer could check against a public register. The IDCC has issued ——— Tayyib IDs that resolve against one, each signed by a licensed assayer. That is what this council is for.

SILVER DIRHAMS STRUCK 2,000,000 estimated, since the 1990s revival
GOLD DĪNĀRS STRUCK 200,000 estimated, at 4.25 g apiece
LARGEST SINGLE ORDER 100,000 coins, placed by one buyer in one transaction

DIGITAL GOLD AND SILVER —— gold · silver allocated · from 1 g

The IDCC certifies digital gold and digital silver from a minimum unit of one gram of each. Each digital gram must be a claim on a specific, segregated, physically held gram — allocated rather than pooled — and redeemable in metal. The council certifies the holding and the register behind it, not the platform that sells it. See the register split by piece.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

"And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent."

Quran, Surah At-Talaq, 65:2-3

At the Islamic Digital Certification Council, our commitment to upholding Islamic financial principles is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as explained by the illustrious Fuqahā' (Jurists). We believe that our financial transactions should be a reflection of our faith, and a manifestation of our adherence to the teachings of Islam in matters of Mu'āmalāt (finance).

Why Shariah compliance matters

01

Divine guidance

Allah Ta'ālā, in His infinite wisdom, has provided us with a comprehensive framework for living our lives, including our financial matters. Our financial dealings should align with the divine guidance found in the Quran and the Sunnah.

02

Economic justice

Islam places a strong emphasis on economic justice. Ensuring that our financial transactions are Shariah-compliant promotes fairness and equity in society.

03

Avoidance of Riba (usury)

The Quran explicitly prohibits Riba (usury/interest) in multiple verses, emphasising the harm it causes to individuals and society. By adhering to Shariah principles, we steer clear of this harmful practice.

04

Wealth redistribution

Zakat, one of the pillars of Islam, underscores the importance of wealth redistribution and supporting those in need. Shariah-compliant finance helps fulfil this obligation.

05

Ethical investment

Our faith encourages ethical investment and discourages involvement in businesses that go against Islamic values. Shariah compliance ensures our investments are ethical and lawful.

06

Standards membership

The IDCC Islamic Digital Certification Council is a member of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), which provides a framework for Islamic financial standards.
